Hey everyone! It's day 5 and we are currently 24% funded! WHOO HOO!
Yesterday, we found out that we are going to be featured on the cover of the May 2016 issue of Om Magazine UK! We are SO EXCITED. We've been spotted in a handful of print magazines before, but this is our first cover!
Today I wanted to give you a little behind the scenes look at the manufacturing process. One thing I wanted to highlight is our back printing. Printed leggings are EVERYWHERE right now, but you know what happens when you try to do a squat in cheap leggings- they "white out" and suddenly, the whole world can see what panties you put on this morning! Not a problem with these new prints! We're the only brand doing back printing. :)
As you can see, the darker prints will have black printed on the inside. For lighter prints, we have a handful of colors to choose from. (I went with turquoise for this collection!)
I am also making some small adjustments to the new prints- mainly scale/proportion, adjusting tonal balance, etc. When you custom print fabric, you often need several rounds of "strike offs" (sample yardage) to make sure it looks how you want it to look. For example:
I LOVE the colors in our new Green Peacock print, but the scale is just a bit smaller than I liked. What's most successful about the older Peacock prints is how bold and dramatic the scale is! So I am "zooming in" the new prints to take down the polka dot effect. ;)
I am doing this WAY ahead of time. If there's one thing I've learned in fashion, you should be starting every new project about a month before you think you should! Something WILL go haywire, and you WILL need that extra time to stay on track. Taking care of these small details now will mean that we are ready to print as soon as we receive backer surveys!
